Otto-Hahn-Schools
Leit- und Orientierungssystem

The Otto Hahn Schools in Bensberg combine a secondary school and a grammar school on a gross floor area of over 18,000 m2.

This individual and identity-creating guidance and orientation system was developed by us in close and early coordination with the user, client and architect. Striking typography and clear color coding solve the challenge of split-level architecture.

The special requirements worked out with the user during the conception phase are reflected in various special solutions. In addition to predefined posting areas to prevent uncontrolled growth, temporary event notices on magnetic foils on 3D site plans and changeable frames are used in a targeted manner.

Tactile overview boards and handrails as well as floor indicators make an important contribution to barrier poverty in this public building.

The typography reflects through its two perspectives the dual use of the site by secondary school and high school.

Due to severely limited construction funds, we designed a primarily two-dimensional system with a three-dimensional effect.
